DescriptionA delightful rosewood Tunbridge ware writing slope by Henry Hollamby, circa 1870. Complete with original mosic topped ink bottle's. The cental mosaic image depicts Battle Abbey Gatehouse, which is surmounted by a geometric design and then both are surrounded with a border of flowers.The top flap lifts to reveal the ink wells and little compartments, one of which is has a mosaic lid. The other flap lifts out to reveal an embossed velvet writing slope.The top flap lifts to reveal a compartment beneath. As a reference : the book 'Tunbridge Ware' by Brian Austen, plate 22.
